Word from the rector for lent 2025
What kind of Lent will we experience in this jubilee year
For the ancients, Lent was a time of fasting, sacrifice and sharing.
The world we live in may be forcing us to return to these ancient practices, which reflected values of moderation, respect for our limits and solidarity with the less fortunate. I dream of a Lent that creates spaces of silence, when verbal inflation fosters dialogues of the deaf. I dream of a Lent that takes us up the mountain to contemplate the project of reconciliation for which Christ gave his life, and which he entrusts to us to be its ambassadors. Together, we’ll be able to share in God’s hope for our earth, our humanity and our common destiny.
